Thursday Night! NEXT Hollywood Meeting August 4,2011 Thursday
Night!
Next DVD presentation for the education of our members.
Price of Color on Coins, by Randy Campbell
We split
the room in two with the sliding curtain to allow the people who did not want
to hear the presentation, to talk and trade coins in one area, while the DVD is
being shown in another area. We start the DVD at 6:30, this allows us to do the
1 hour presentation before 7:30. Hope you make the next meeting.

I put out for sale: Just released 1st
edition-“The
Little Book of Collectible Eisenhower Dollars”. Editor Bill Sanders of The Ike Group
I had a good response with 5 people buying
copies at 12.00 each.
The show had good attendance with good
interest in bullion and (for me) early type coins. I like to stock low
grade early type for those who want an inexpensive example for their
collection. The last few shows have shown more interest in this
area. This Sunday I bought & sold Early Type (Some seated halves).
Pricing for me was good more retail buyers than usual. This was a change from the bullion only months
I have had lately. Bullion has slowed a little ( for me) with many
dealers taking a wait and see attitude. Morgan’s & Peace
Dollars were moving at good prices in all grades. I showed
The Fractional Currency & Continental Currency I bought at the West
Palm Beach Show. Sold some and had good interest in the
others. Other dealers I talked to felt
that interest in numismatistic material was picking up.
I enjoyed talking to my
regulars and picked up a couple more email addresses for the Hollywood & Ft.
Lauderdale coin clubs email list.

Link to BEWARE!!!!!!!!!Counterfeit
or Altered PCGS Slabs
Hi everyone,
PCGS is not giving us a way of determining if a slab is real or not.
I was at an auction and bought a group of PCGS slabs cheap. I cracked out the silver
and sold it so I could look at the construction of the Slabs. Check out the
pictures below.
You will notice the Top Cover -1 (Cert # Side) snaps into the Bottom Cover-2
(Hologram Side). The edge of the Bottom Cover has a slight back angle-4 on it
which allows a tight fit to the top cover. The arrow-3 points to a groove
around the bottom cover where it is sonically welded.
Hope this helps you identify a good PCGS holder? I have seen Counterfeit
Holders which I think had this identical construction (I was not able to break
open to confirm).
